1.
My young horse doesn't like the loose ring, jointed snaffle I currently ride him in. He opens his mouth despite his flas strap, tosses his head when I half halt (especially when jumping, and even when wearing a martingale) and will often ignore/fight against my hand when I use it. I have tried him in a happy mouth version of the same bit but this doesn't help. I have also tried him in a KY rotary bit, which showed some improvement, but wasn't perfect. He is not a strong horse but I find him able to completely ignore the use of my hand (i.e xc) and I would like to find a snaffle type bit that I can use for all three phases that will encourage him to take the contact forward and down? His outline is good though his chin is sometimes tucked a little too close to his chest.
