So sorry to hear about your loss - I dread the thought of that happening to my mare.

If you watch the skies for the Harrier Hawks you may be able to find the foal.

He said she could have lost if in the last 2 months and it could be anywhere in the paddock but shes got 2 big paddocs and one of them has REALLY long grass, so it could be anywhere, im still yet to find it.

Oh no! I am so sorry for your loss
Did she loose the foal just recently? Did you see it? Was it a filly or a colt..just out of curiousity?
Did the vet give you a reason for the abort?

The gestation period for a horse is 11 months... If your mare was succesfully put infoal in january/february last year then she would have either foaled in december last year or she'd be foaling this month this year... In which case, by this stage of her pregnancy she should look like she's about to pop (unless it's a tiny foal LOL)... I'd get the vet out.

Well if she was put infoal last year at this time then she'll definately be big and round..but get a vet as it has been said.

If she is in foal - leave her udder and don't touch it.

Getting a get out to do a pregnancy test would be your best bet at finding out for sure, as no one over the internet could tell you.

My tb mare got put in foal about january/febuary last year but is really unsure if shes actually infoal. We got the vet out early last year but they said they couldnt find anything, so we thought she wasnt infoal. but then we started noticing her belly dropping and her bum getting bigger, we were sure we could feel movement and couldnt find any other explanation. we milked her and that stuff came out (sorry i dont no how to spell it lol). do you think it could be a phantom pregnancy, or is she really in foal?
