| Yes RJayne, he sure is. He has a tendancy to panic is the only thing! Had the saddle on him today ands tarted to teach him to lunge a little. Hes not a bad wee horse, but I am glad he is still under 15hh!!

| Sounds like all is going well with your cheeky fellow. I am sure you will end up with a very respectable horse when you have finished his training.

| I have started working with the yearling, so far so good. Now that he has settled into his new paddock, he is starting to try and dominate again. You can only handle this guy firmly, give him an inch and he will take a mile. So far I have had a saddle on his back with the girth done up, teaching him to lift and hold his hooves up for picking (good with his front but needs a lot of work with his back ones, which is fine and normal), cut a bridle path and teaching him to respect my space. All this has gone really well so far and he is proving to be quite calm to accept most of this. He will try to walk over top of you when you put his feed out, so I am teaching him to stand back until I ask him to come in and eat, he is learning fast. He puts his ears back and threatens you when you tell him off, I just ignore him and if he steps into my space, he gets a short sharp slap on his chest. If he doesn't listen to that, he gets a slap on the nose. Like I say, he is learning and in a good way. You just have to watch your back without letting him know you are doing that, lol. I do love working with the young ones, this guy is just soo coltish and bordering on a bit nasty. I think he will end up being a one person horse, so I have to be careful that I am not that "one person" as he will only get sold on or leased out. He is only 14.1hh at the moment, thank goodness He always comes down the paddock first now and gives a wee neigh when he reaches the gate. I hope I can make him nicer so someone will love him.
