having bought covers from SW over the years, the kiwi rugs are too big in the shoulders and rub, the shires aren't bad,BUT the quality is very variable... so now i have given up and troll trade me and saddlery sites for end of line sales of good rugs, i bought some really good canta covers which were really old stock ( like must be 3 or 4 yrs) and got the covers for half price including shipping from the south island, and  try and buy out of season, which is usually cheaper, for summer i buy good quality canvas as it lasts longer , and breathes better... i still have one of the first enforcers that came out, and i use it as an underrug, it was on rug trashing horses and still going strong..
I have found weethabeeta's fit TB types  and zilco are better for stocky types as a genral rule there are exceptions of course

we have had great feedback about our kiwi rugs this season, many people in my hunt club have kiwi paddock rug with kiwi doonas underneath, i still think alot of the people on this thread are lablel snobs

im sure the ones from '10 years ago' were ok, but imo the quality of everything saddlery warehouse sells has gone downhill quite considerably in the last few years.

i would rather save up and go without something to buy my horse a decent cover than have a cheapie one rip on me- thus costing me more money in the long run.

i agree..

Someone ask what you think. not to rubbish the rug.

if the rug fits your horse and does the job.. does i really matter???

I dont like Kiwi rugs and they dont fit... but shires are nice and fit..

weeell i work there and theyre are no where near as bad as you guys make out, theyre veeeery cheap compared to WB, i use them, i have a kiwi doonas on ours and weve had no probs, we sell heeeaps of them, all of them esp the 1200s
great rugs, everyones just too snobby coz they come from SW, not stirrups etc, if they sold them in up market shops it would be a differnt story, its all about the label

They are CRAP!! Most of my friends who have those covers argeed as theirs riped right down middle and back straps broke etc and their horses arnt covers trashers as this is 1st time they ever had their covers ruined.......

So i would NEVER buy covers from SW apart from Shires rugs but i perfer WB and Zlico over any other brands.

even the shires ones can be pretty bad sometimes cos they're the 'offcuts' from england (like ... the shitty ones that no one wanted and think are crap)
