SuRgE RR Governer (6122) | Yea it is. Me and My mate were so worried something was wrong nut it turned out skye (the mare) knew best. She held on over a month over due but when the foal was finally born it was tiny... it could walk under skyes belly... Alll was sweet though... he was nice and healthy. So yea it would have been bad if she gave birth on time. Nature has a way of doing things so dont stress to much but if you reall are worried talk to the vet. Hope this helps

SUNGIRL RR Addict (1885) | Cheers for the great answer Loopy Lou, at present my girl and I are on the Chathams but we are moving to Hawkes Bay in January (have already purchased a property) and I'm hoping to get into doing something with her. My other horses are TBs and ponies - talk about extremes - aye?!!

What a lovely filly. I have a Clydie X, but from looking at your photos it's hard to tell that my girl is X with something. How big is your mare? Mine is 16.2hh and has about the same amount of feathers as yours, but is longer in the back. I bought her from a lady in Cambridge 3 years ago but I don't know any of her history (the horse that is). What colour was the filly's sire? Do you breed to sell or show etc? Can you register foals from unregistered mares? (My girl isn't registered as far as I know) Sorry about all the questions - just very interested. I'm pleased that your baby arrived at long last for you, didn't do my old neighbours theory much good. |
Hi SUNGIRL
Our girl is 17HH. The sire is approx 16.2HH as a 4yo so probably has a wee bit of growing to go (hopefully not much!). He is a blue roan. We breed to both show and sell although this is our very first purebred foal and we intend to keep her! A lot of people do not realise that the Clydesdale is actually on the rare breeds register. We are hoping to do what we can in our small way to increase numbers
You cannot register crossbred/partbred clydesdales or clydesdales from unregistered parents with the clydesdale society but you can take them and show them in unregistered classes at A&P shows. They usually have a few classes in the heavy horse section for non registered stock, especially in the driving sections.
I hope this helps
