Lollie RR Vice President (26559) | The babies at work are all fine, they're born at the vets then come back to the stud pretty soon after then they're back and forward with the mares being put in foal. I think the just widen the partitions. They use the loading bay to start with but they all load pretty easy now anyway. Mares are tied but not babies.

Brooks Apprentice (6) | Just take your time. I have travelled a foal that was only 3 days old no problems. Was only 15minutes ride, but we jsut took our time, corners really slowly & wide. Slowed early for intersections and took off really slowly too.
Give them a good ride the first time & you shouldnt have problems in the future

Mandie RR Governer (5029) | haha our baby went on the truck for the first time about 2 weeks ago to go back to stud .. was a mish getting her up on truck so if you have a loading bay i suggest using that.. just take it slowly take corners really carefully you will be suprised at how well they can balance

blitz.u.all RR Addict (4855) | i have no experience with this, but to make it easier i would have him right beside his mum for balance and go really slow for the first couple of trips. im not sure about the tying up part as it might affect his balance...?

Toooni_ RR Citizen (726) | Thank you Pearl is the best traveller ever, she loves it. She self loads atc so hopefully he just follows in his mums footsteps and he should be sweet. In the truck would you put the mare and foal in their own dividers or side by side?? He knows how to be tied up etc so that shouldn't be an isue.

LightMyFire RR Citizen (899) | If mum is good to float/truck, it makes it much easier for bubs. There's no harm in taking them for a trip when baby is at foot. I had to float a mum and a baby once, we just put mum on and baby followed her up. They were left loose in the float with no partition and travelled fine. In saying that, I wouldn't advise doing that with a mare who isn't a good traveller.

missme7 RR Citizen (583) | My foal just went on his first trip to stud with mummy hes only 6 weeks old. I think the earlier you get them used to it the easier it will be in future.

Toooni_ RR Citizen (726) | Our foal is coming up 3 months old and we are wondering what a good age is to load them up for the first time. We have a 4 horse truck so there is plently of room for him and his mother to stand.
My only concern is that our road is the worse road around, its all up and down and around and around.
Any tips of what to do for their first trip would be helpful thanks
