Hiya - I'm fairly new to Hamilton and an adult returning to riding - need to get back into things and was wondering who the Hamilton NH instructor was?  Or does anyone else have any recommendations on instructors in Hamilton - looking for advice on groundwork and building a relationship with my new horse :-)

Jenny's coming to my place at the end of October, not specifically for Natural Hoersemanship but she will be here, I'm hoping I can get enough people together for her to come up for a day or 2 because I'm hugely interested too.
hope that helps :)

I read Jenny's website all the time - sooo informative. I would LOVE her to come and meet me and my horses if she's ever up in Auckland. Could do with a few lessons from someone like her :)

Im not sure if Jenny used to be involved with Parelli stuff, but shes definetly not now!..Im trying to be tactful when I say this, but, I think its safe to say she has evolved to a much higher and deeper level (if that makes sense). She is one of those (rare in my opinion) people where the welfare of horses is an absolute passion and has led her to study and train with some of the worlds top scientists and horseman (and woman of course!) Apart from her leading research into diet and horses at pasture in NZ, she understands the anatomy and biomechanics behind her horsemanship and riding training,(beyond our top dressage instructors for example) and is well aware of the more subtle nuances of a horses behaviour and the 'energetic' realm. And to top it off, apart from advertising her dietary supplements (nearly always with highly informative articles) she does not choose to have some massive marketing machine advertising how wonderful she is, or performing smoke and dagger tricks (some of you will know what I mean by that), she is extremely modest, will not force her ideals on others, just quietly waits for people that are ready to come to her. Her CORE VALUES and PRINCIPLES are correct.
Unfortuantly I don't know anyone else offering lessons to talk up apart from my friend Emma Kay, otherwise I would!

Look up Ray Hunt, Buck Brannaman, Tom Dorrance, Mike Schaffer, Albert Ostermaier, Freddy Knie Snr (of the circus knie), Nuno Oliveira  (hey they'll all guys?!) I could go on...listening or watching these people in action will bring such a surge of emotion, its awesome. Trust your instincts, do not limit yourself. If you don't like something, move on until you find whats right.

O yeah jenny used to be parelli instructor aye..also Chip Johnson but hes at Matakana.

Jackie Chant and Russell Higgins are the NZ parelli instructors.

The parelli program you can learn by yourself and at home-can get quite expensive though.

O I forgot to mention, if you do get Jenny, she will give you enough stuff to work on for months until she next came your way. Or come see me if your ever in Auckland? I've got well trained horses here, which is actually beneficial for you to learn what the correct response is quickly and refine your technique so you know what you want from your horse. I would recommend one lesson of 1.5hrs groundwork/riding and I give theory handouts too so you don't forget the principles.

For a start theres nothing 'natural' about what humans do with horses, so I would be wary of anyone giving themselves that label. Jenny Paterson of HorsemanshipNZ travels NZ wide so maybe look her up? She trains with the likes of Dr Deb Bennett and Buck Brannamann among others, highly recommend!

There is a Parelli instructor in Hamilton, but that would be quite far for you to travel. If you are interested in Parelli, you can buy plenty of stuff online to help you. It's very detailed which makes it easy to learn without someone there, compared to some other dvd's :)
