SuRgE RR Governer (6124) | you can tease her & check if she has a season or not - if she doesn't its likely she could be in foal. Then you can have a bloodtest done, a urine test or from 16 days have her scanned... good luck :o)

| I cant imagine a mare doing that on her own but if she was asked/made to by her owner for the purpose of breeding then yes I have heard of things like that happening. Maybe the lying down part is a little out there, cant imagine that being done.

Trotter_Pacer RR Governer (5990) | I was told that big mares can get infoal to little stallions like mini, shetlands etc by backing him up to on slope or lie down or crought (sp) down lower to ground for stallion?? Havnt see anything like that happens but have heard alot about mares doing that tho...

| Well what size is your mare? Is she a big girl, to big for the shetland to reach? If so then dont worry she wont be infoal to him then. If she is a wee girl(less than 13hh) then the shetland may have had a chance to "do his thing". One way to tell is that she wont come back in season again. She also wont be peeing often as mares do when in season. She also will ignore the stallion, instead of wanting to be near him. Or you wait until 100 days then you can get a test done that tells you if the mare is pregnant or not. http://www.weefoalchecker.co.nz/
