KPHStud Apprentice (2) | Gelding them young will make them grow taller than if leaving them for a year or two, so if you're wanting something a little bigger then it's probably a good age. I've got one here who is going to be an absolute whopper—at four months old he's 3/4 the height of his mum so will be leaving him until he's nearly two just in case! He's only supposed to be 16.2 at best but he's already at a pretty good height for doing the deed!
Good idea to get it done before winter while it's dry so no worries about him splashing mud up into the wound.

Proud SB Owner RR Governer (5967) | sweet ive just been told by a breeder that colts can get a mare pregnant when they are only 8 months old! so ill be getting him done in spring... will let him see winter through and then bye bye man hood

Proud SB Owner RR Governer (5967) | Ive just bought a 5 month old colt as a future riding horse. I won't be keeping him entire so want to know whens a good age age to geld? I know that testosterone stunts their growth as they get older and are still entire and i don't want this so want to geld as soon as its possible
