Have you got the proper facilities to breed a foal? -a secure property with good safe fencing, yards, covered loose boxes or stables etc etc. This all helps to make sure your foal and dam are safe and able to be handled when needed.

Have you got the money to maintain the care of preggy Mum and the foal once it is born? Expect VET fees, you need to have the mare checked out first off, BEFORE she ges preggy, you definately will have other vet costs to check the mare over  during pregnancy and once foal is born. ESPECIALY if this is your first foal with no previous experience prior.

Have you thought about WHY you need to put your mare in foal? What are the reasons for doing so? Breeding a foal is more time consuming and expensive than buying a yearling/young horse. You really need to have good solid reasons before taking any steps towards breeding a foal.

READ heaps, anything and everything you can to help educate yourself about what is needed, what the exact costs involved are, the risks, the advantages, all about pregnancy in horses, all about health and general care. Research into feed, training and handling skills. Look up paddock maintenance - make sure your property is safe and secure. HAve a good idea about the foals future..it is not a thing to take lightly.

ok some may have heard i was offered a service by stallion in exchange for ro

what are the extra costs, and things involved with your mare getting infoal?
i wont have the service fee cost, what else is there?

and do u have to have a vet there when she is having foal, or can u let it all happen naturally without vet there?

also what about after foal is born, is there anything needed then or not?

and anything else i should know before making this decision?
