I like that they are doing something, I don't know if this is exactly right yet but a really good start.

Unfortunately I gave a musical freestyle a go last year and scored 60% so I am a C2 because of it, I hope the system doesn't stop riders from trying out a freestyle etc just in case they get a point!!!

yeah i'm going to have to be a C2 because me and charm got a couple of points at level 2 last season
at least they will have the different categories to give the more inexperienced riders a chance.

can't wait for level 1 to not be graded!

Not to be argumentative, but I really hate the idea of level 1 being non-graded, for some lower level riders that don't aspire for go up the grades, this could mean that they will never get a chance to go to HOY or the Nationals and compete. I would much rather see the training tests used more frequently or have a non-graded prelim class seperate to prelim proper. In fact a lot of placed are seeing the need to run un-reg prelim classes and you can see more entries in them that the registered classes, I think this system works fine.

yes, but it means that riders like me and horses like charm have the opportunity to compete at level 1 lol

It is graded.  There's rumours/talk/wishful thinking/have no idea lol on making L1 non-graded or adding a non-graded option.

What would be the difference between non-graded and non-registered (money aside - I don't have to pay NZEF fees for non-rego ).  I'm assuming if they brought in non-graded classes, they would scrap non-rego ones?  And still offer graded classes at the same level?

From a not-a-dressage-rider perspective - I do the odd day and either go to PC stuff or enter a non rego class.  I don't do graded stuff, simply because it would practically double my NZEF fees just to do L1.

I like it, it gives the younger and more inexperienced riders to get an even fairer chance at the lower tests, instead of having a far more experienced person winning because they have heaps more experience.

yea i reckon its a good idea... but down here there arent that many riders, and alot of the riders in the lower levels are higher level riders bringing horses on, so it would be kinda dumb to have it down here as there would be hardly any riders in the CN-C3 class (for example). But a good idea for bigger areas like Auckland :)
