Here is a photo of our First Cross Andalusian Gelding we sold a few years ago.

Sadly, the TB side definitely came out in him..Incredibly Spooky and unpredictable at times, but he was good natured, not nasty, very cuddly in your face and VERY intelligent.  He was very well bred too, his Sire was Jocoso X(now Deceased) out of a TB Mare.  2 of his Siblings(same mom but sired by Catherino II, are now in the USA, and one of those is now in Europe apparently.

I have heard many times over that Catherino II is very consistent and pass's on his good nature, movement and presence. so perhaps you could look at him?

Here is our old boy.  He had extremely smooth paces you hardly moved in the saddle, but was still very refined com-paired to a lot of Andy X's.
So I think it all depends on your mare, choose something that you feel will work well and what you want from the foal.

I like the look of Whisper..!! although 3,000 he is a lighter stallion choice and hes got such a great temprement!!!! he is such a stunning looking horse!!

He's nice but far too tall for what I'm wanting - I want a nice park hack or small hack (if that makes sense)

I have a bit to do with Andalusians, and am breeding a 1st X due to hit the ground in October.
They are fantastic horses, very sensible and good temperaments.
They are extremely agile, being a bullfighting breed.
If you are wanting to be competitive, I would suggest breeding from a straight moving stallion, such as Cancionero.
The Andalusians are bred to 'paddle' with their front legs ... This is because of requiring greater and faster movement and agility in the shoulders for bullfighting, which is a life of death situation! However, for competing in dressage, you definitely don't want a horse that doesn't move straight.
Some breeders are now breeding Andalusians to not have the trademark paddle.
I think the only stallion I know of who doesn't paddle is Cancionero, who I believe is now based in Matamata, I have a foal by him due to hit the ground mid October.

I think Baroque (who posts here occasionally, but is more active on the horsetalk forum) breeds Andalusian/PREs, as well.

I knew a Catherino II gelding way back when.  You could take him anywhere and he wouldn't bat an eye, but he had been spoiled a lot (in the bad way ;)) so could be very pushy .. not in a nasty way, but he would walk all over you if he thought he could

There's (or was anyway) Andalusian classes at the Clevedon A and P too.

yep - by an andy stallion out of a tb mare

Cool will definitely look more closely at him then, especially as he's local, and stud fee is not horrendous.

Andalusians are bred for temprament above all else.  I know plenty of breeders who will cull horses with nasty tempraments.  They are incredibly trainable, forgiving and consistent horses.
My mare was a fabulous alrounder - she was very good at dressage, did well in showing and was a fantastic, fun, safe eventer.  She has full siblings overseas as GP dressage horses :)
I wouldn't hesitate to breed one for myself - maybe have a chat to the Andalusian stallion owner and see some of his progeny.  See if its what you like/would work for you??

What I have seen of his progeny they are very trainable and fantastic nature, but I find them a little bit 'clunky' looking - but I don't what the mare was, but still very nice horses. This particular Stallion is by Fijo.

Wanting to breed from my mare this coming season - she's full TB (looks WB like though - except lacking a bit of bone) wanting to breed a "level headed, sane dressage/allrounder" - ideally something of substance but not too chunky, temperament is very important too.
There is a rather nice Andalusian Stallion here in Timaru - but I've personally had nothing to do with any Andalusian bred horses.
I like the types and temperment of Mighty Heights progeny.
