Half of them are crossed with standies, that I do not understand. I quite like the look of friesian x arab for a pleasure horse |
I think they cross them with standies because it brings out the 'gait' more, or something like that. Ha, I only researched this a wee while ago but have already forgotten. |
Ohh so maybe to use them for carriage or something? Guess that makes sense

Actually, I have seen a fresian cross and have to admit that until I was told, I could have sworn it was a wobbler! I'm afraid that for sport horse purposes I dont see the point in crossing with a fresian when there are so many other breeds that are built better for the job.
Fresians are typically very upright through the front, shoulder and neck...its the way they are and what gives them their distinctive type etc....but when that is in opposition to many other breed standards, why would you cross with one?
SOrry, I just dont get it |

yeah, thats alright, but it doesnt have the movement of a friesan or the high set neck. And like KK said, its a bit heavy for my liking |
It doesnt look a bad type (interesting it has navicular)...looks a good alrounder, not particularly taken with its jumping, but it would be ok at lower levels

Totally agree, they definately have their place in the horse world for beauty and unique movement but thats not what I look for, I prefer to own sporthorses or whatever.

and yes you're right - "special" paces like four beat canters, not something I'd be aiming for in my horses schooling, are not evident in any fresian movement I've seen |
Looks avergae as... Nothing special, would own it, Bit heavy for my liking. |
