Up to you - but as someone who shows at top level, if I had to chose between ravens oil and makeup - I'd purchase the make up. If you are going to use ravens oil on the points of the horse (ie the legs) you really need dark makeup on the face to balance it out, otherwise it looks very fake on the legs and the horse may look a little common in the head. |
well iv purchased ravens oil, so il just use it and im not going all out in showing its just on the side im not wanting to go to top level and waste to much money |
if your not going hard out i wouldn't have worried about the ravens oil and just purchased a tub of ultra or a tube of black make-up |
im alowd to purchase it. and its cheap!

Vaseline and baby oil will highlight any existing shadows - horse makeup will 'create' shadows.
Fashion over the generations has led to an attractive head in a horse being seen as a big kind eye, and a slight dish to the head (rather than a roman nose). Makeup around the eyes and at the muzzle enhance this, and create more of a 'look' if the horse isn't already naturally blessed with these qualities. |

Jenn RR Vice President (11624) | I find colour highlighting shampoos work best, as opposed to make up, wet the face/ area, put the shampoo on a sponge, sponge it on - leave for a bit, sponge it off, (only use a sponge on the face though

If you're not wanting to spend much money ... good old baby oil is great. Makes tails shiny and untangles them too and can do a great job at highlighting black points as well |
carefull with pink skin though, can burn easy peasy
I like silicon spray for tails and highlights keep away from saddle area though |
true true - and second silicon spray as another option
