Make sure you are still providing plent of fibre if the horse doesnt have sufficient at least 1% of body weigh in dry matter spread over a day you run the risk of colic and other complications. Chaff and hay/straw mix is your best bet along with balance mins and vits. http://feedxl.com/2010/01/feeding-the-e ... .html#more

tried to put a muzzle on fudge once, he went furious lol so needless to say that idea went out the window

you just have to manage the exercise and grass requirements, you dont want to shut them up all 24/7 in a small yard, horses need decent sized areas

give hay, soaking would be ideal or put it into a net
nrm mare balancer is what i had fudge on, its awesome, and ful of minerals/vitamins

Can you get to him a couple times a day???  I'd either use a muzzle or shut him up but you will need to take the bucket off for a bit, or feed hay when he's yarded (soaking it would be really good).

just put a muzzle on him.
Id say you probably should be giving him a feed with minerals or anything he needs in it, but only chaff. Thats what our fatty pony gets :)

Troy is a good doer and I just didn't feed him anything extra, until drought set in.

I used to put a muzzle on my pony, as I dont like to lock them up in a tiny yard.
