Good to know. There is a girl on here selling an 18in leather Kreiger dressage in good nick - do you reckon that would be smart enough? I've groomed for a mate at a couple of big shows and didnt think to look what everyone was riding in  but she had a gorgeous innova

Something tidy that fits and shows off the shoulder is what you want, hannah richards rode at hoy and did well in her wintec issabell

these would def. be the leather-look synthetic and not the suede-look saddles right? I've just seen a suede-y isabell that I really like.

I'm looking for an 18in saddle, but will go to 17.5 if I have to :)

I used to ride at A&Ps in a synthetic dressage saddle... Cindy Pender won Park Hack of the Year in a synthetic saddle!! As Bling said you don't see many, but it is more important that the saddle fits your horse, is neat and tidy, and you ride well in it.

HAve a look at some of the Bates synthetic leather range - they are reasonably priced and look like leather. Trade Me is a good place to look

at a&p level you wouldn't see many synthetics and definitely a no-no for a formal turnout class, but for the level it sounds like you are currently aiming for a synthetic is completely fine.
If you can afford it and can find a leather saddle that fits it might be best to get that straight off though so if you get really serious about showing you don't have to buy another saddle cos you aren't happy with your synthetic :)

I'm hoping to do a few ribbon days this year, and maybe, if I get REALLY bold, a small show next year. I am saddle shopping at the mo, and given that I have zero experience in showing, is it a giant no-no to have a synthetic saddle?
