Sometimes shoving the horses head up its daisies to get it as you want it has to happen (and if were being honest here, not 100% of that video had her horses in a rolkur frame). I dont agree with rolkur, but I do agree with needing some way to control a 600kg animal with a mind of its own.

The thing is that if you have to use SO much force on an animal to get it to do what you want, then you should really just review your training methods- I can assure you, the horses would rather be lovely and light and responsive rather than forcing themselves to dull to the pain and pressure of the riders hands/legs on their mouths/sides. It doesn't matter how big they are- you just need to find a way to motivate them to want to do it.

It's like anything else.  People will see it and imitate it because she does it.  99% of them will do it badly (assuming they are just copying, rather than doing under instruction).  *Anything*, including supposedly gentle methods, can cause damage if you don't know what you are doing.

This is how the FEI is identifying LDR.  What Anky (assuming it is her - you don't see her face, tho the horse is recognisable) was doing in that imma gonna sue photo doesn't exactly fit with that description.

I *think* it came out in one of the bulletins, there were diagrams showing the difference, and what was acceptable and what wasnt.

This.

Alot of people dont realise that Ankys horses are HOT. And Sjef DOES get on and kick them up the daisies - as only a man can do.

I think the text content is overly dramatic and inflammatory.  I'd assume the poster is fairly young.

Pictures and video speak for themselves.  Glad that rollkur was banned and I find the I'm gonna SUUUUUE funny.  He's a bit of a tool tho, his emails to the original author are special (http://www.eurodressage.com/equestrian/ ... rodressage)

rollkur is banned for a reason. I do use LDR though - found rogue worked a million times better when we first used it with him

It's banned for a reason and that really should be the end of it. That's my opinion anyway :$

Anky Van Grunsven and the rollkur debacle

have just seen this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUUeRFZt ... r_embedded

and this is Anky's respone to the photo that was in a press release about rollkur: http://www.horsetalk.co.nz/news/2010/08/177.shtml

to me it seems like the video was made by a very sore loser, but it seems like there are a few good points in it (video wise).
