rider1803 RR Citizen (880) | You said you were placed in the Saddle Hunter ring so i would stay there...this would be an indication that it is the right class

and as poshpony said if you have competed at an A&P you have to stay in that same ring for the rest of the A&Ps for that season. This being because you have a performance certificate for A&Ps Does not apply to PC and riding club level shows though.... you can pick and choose your rings as you wish for those |
Riding horse isn't on the performance card though?? They've only got hack/hunter |
Depends of the A&P... some of ours have Riding Horse classes now but for those that don't you are allowed to choose a different ring

Hunters shown under saddle should show substance, be active and well mannered with strong easy paces. The horse must be capable of carrying weight over long distances and varied country. A Saddle Hunter must gallop in workout if asked. |
Riding Horse’s are saddle horses who do not fit the criteria of Hacks/Park Hacks or Saddle Hunters in type, but somewhere in between. A quality horse, they must possess the conformation, soundness, manners and paces of a show horse and be capable of carrying a Lady or Gentleman rider pleasantly for longer journeys.

Proud SB Owner RR Governer (6133) | I'd go riding horse to be honest UNLESS his paces and work ethic are up to hunter standard... read up on what a hunter should be and then decide

Lollie RR Vice President (26559) | I don't get that - so if this is the first show she's done that's had the option of riding horse, she pretty much couldn't have done any shows until now if she wanted riding horse to be her main ring? That's ridiculous!

PoshPony RR Addict (2648) | Nope. but you have chosen hunter.. so you have to stay in hunters
If you choose riding horse, you would have to complete in riding horse if the show you were doing had it. if the did not have riding horse you could do hack/hunter, but you have chosen hunter, so you have to stick with it now

Bex+Molly RR Addict (2766) | I thought riding horse was an exseption to the rule, like you choose hack/hunter to ride in because riding horse isn't at every show and then if riding horse is at a ahow you can ride it??
|
| Reg 3/7/2008 | | Posted 8:02pm, Monday 22nd November | |
|
PoshPony RR Addict (2648) | If you have competed in the hunters at an a&p, you have to stay in that ring for the remainder of the season - you cant change to riding horse. If there is a show with no hunters you could do hack,

Bex+Molly RR Addict (2766) | So now we have a show with a riding horse class should I go that or stay in the hunters. He got a few places in the hunter ring last time

Yeah he's a pretty big bold horse who tends to barrel along, his gallops pretty good (hopefully he won't think he's racing). I've only ever shown in the hack ring, the same gear will bw fine right just no bling |
Gear the same but a flat noseband looks more traditional - wider the better to suit the horses head!!

yep go hunter. Keep in mind the difference between hack and hunter is also in how they go... not only their movement but the way you show off their outlook. Get him up in front, looking through his bridle - nice and bold and forward moving. (And obviously, a really good gallop) |

Show Riding Horse. Lightweight saddle hunter at shows where there are not SRH classes offered. Bit more condition be good. |
Low level down here we only have straight hack and hunter. So would you say hunter in that case? and the codition is being worked on, he's plumped up a wee bit since the pics were taken even

How big is he? I would go more towards hack, as he does look a bit lighter than most hunters unless your in lightweight... |
he's 16.3 hh so I think he's just look a bit big and stupid with the hacks??
