Agitated, nervous horses that are normally well behaved may benefit from a calming supplement. These products can contain vitamins, or minerals, or herbs, or amino acids. Which to choose? Before making a decision, consider these points: • An empty stomach is the main cause for behavioral issues -- forage (hay and/or pasture) should be available at all times. • Supplementing 5,000 mg of magnesium per 500 lbs of body weight will make a positive change in demeanor if magnesium is the issue, since most horses do not receive enough of this mineral. • A borderline B vitamin deficiency can result when the hindgut microbial population is compromised by stress, high starch diets, illness, or antibiotics. Thiamin (vitamin B1) has been shown to be especially effective at high doses (1 mg per pound of body weight). Prebiotics that feed existing microbes also result in more B vitamin production. • Herbs such as chamomile, valerian, black cohosh, ginger root, and passion flower may have an over-tranquilizing effect, interact with other medications, and have side effects. Consult with your veterinarian before using. • Tryptophan, an essential amino acid, leads to serotonin synthesis in the brain. For this effect to occur, it is best to offer as a paste between meals. When added to a meal, tryptophan will not be used for serotonin production and the calming effect will be significantly diminished.

yeah i no quite a few people esp from here who said it works, fudge just hated it, which was odd for him, |
I disguise it with a lot of mollases but it was funny because Tigris wouldn't eat the Equigard but was happy to eat the mix.
Horses are strange characters |
Can be the smell. I had one who wouldn't touch mycosorb no matter what I added to his feed.

I don't even have to disguise it with molasses, and Angel gets such a wee feed! The benefits of having pony sized piglets

Yes but best use the Equigaurd+ - has an extra toxin binder with a few other goodies in it too |
The only difference between the Equi Guard and the Equi Guard + is that Equi Guard + has magnesium in it There is no extra toxin binder etc, everything else is completely the same |
I think it also had extra Vit E added, no? Anyway, whatever, I found it much better than just plain EquiGuard as I didn't have to feed EquiCalmer too - all rolled into one |
no, the salesreps gave us the info on it and told us that the only diff is the magnesium you will be finding it better possibly because your horse had a magnesium deficiency of some level to start with and this will be helping

or - feed
1 Tablespoon each Baking Soda Epsom Salts Dried Thyme Yeast
Feed twice daily while grass is in strong growth then half quantity but still best to feed twice daily.
For best results feed in a small feed before riding as Magnesium is metabolised fast. |
tried fudge on that, he hated the taste and went off his feed equiguard + is very good, if your busy and cant be fussed mixing up stuff |
On the other hand both my two eat it no probs as do a lot of my friends horses who I've recommended it to, all with great result

horsey_gal RR Addict (2014) | Yeess. I would recommend getting Equiguard + as it seems to work a little bit more than the normal Equiguard. Good stuff though
