Welcome to RR Kris :)
Spend lots of time grooming and getting to know each other. Dont feel any pressure to do anything that you are not comfortable with straight away. Talking to experienced horsey folk helps heaps when you are a little unsure about things. Hope to see you on RR with more updates on how you are getting on :)

Just have fun, ask advice, and learn along the way! People on here are very helpful and will help you if you have questions on feed, instruction, etc, don't be afraid to ask :)

You would probable get more help in general category :)

Firstly, welcome to RR! My suggestion is spend lots of time with him, not necessarily riding, but on the ground as in a good solid groom every day or two. Always be kind to him, if he needs feed, get him on a regular programme where he is fed the same thing and amount at the same approximate time daily. Get his teeth checked by a good dentist, we have Crystal on here who is an equine dentist. If you are riding, try to get some lessons whether individual or by joining the local Pony club/abults riding club.
Just try to always look at things from his view. Also, try to be in charge, don't let him walk all over you because that won't make either of you happy.

Don't hit him, (deep voice to tell him off is fine, but remember to reward him with a pat and soft voice when he behaves) Also, ask locals that are knowledgeable for a hand, most would be glad to help you :) Feel free to ask more questions.

(sorry I think I posted first in the wrong category)
I have helped with other horses but I have just gotten my own. He's around 16h, 16yo and very placid. I don't know a lot of horse lingo so I would just like someone to explain how often I should do things, how do I get him to trust me and for me to be confident with him?

Also I would like to know things I SHOULDN'T do with him.

Please help, I'm very afraid of making a mistake and/or him not liking me.
