Annabel's latest news

Annabel is an This weekend we had the One Day Horse Trials at Mcleans Island, Christchurch. It was our second ESNZ Event in Canterbury for the Spring season, it was a busy day with a team offour horses entered and a 4.30am start!

NRM Enzo was the only entry in the Advanced class. He was really nice and relaxed in his dressage which I was happy about, although we did a couple of silly mistakes so there are lots of areas I can improve on for the rest of the season. He did both his flying changes really well, which was great as we have been working very hard on them over the winter! He gave me an awesome ride around the Cross Country, through all the straight routes! I was also pleased with his showjumping which was right up to height at 1.25m and very technical, he just touched a couple, but he jumped so well I am really happy with him.

NRM Frog Rock was in the Open Intermediate. He did a good dressage test, then flew around the cross country and showjumping, finishing second overall. I was particularly happy with his cross country as he felt so good!

NRM Tonga and NRM From the Clouds (FTC) are both lovely young horses who were entered in the Training class. They are both 6 years olds and are looking really promising for the future. NRM Tonga was 1st in the dressage and NRM FTC was 3rd. We had a very busy schedule all day and unfortunately the Intermediate Showjumping and the Training Cross Country clashed. Normally we are very organised and try not to keep anyone waiting, but it just wasn't going to happen today. I had to jump straight off NRM Frog Rock and onto NRM FTC to fly round the xc. They then had to wait for me to get straight onto NRM Tonga and go round on him. Luckily they were both really good boys and flew round without any problems! They also both went clear in the Showjumping, so finished 1st and 2nd.Overall it was a very good day. We now have a couple of Showjumping shows, before the next South Island One Day Event Champs on November 6th.
